Banners are essential in enhancing the overall feel of birthday parties.
You must decide if you are going to use the 50th birthday banner for an indoor or outdoor party. There may be a slight difference in banner to use at different locations. When you are ordering your banner – make sure it’s made out of weather resistant material if it’s going to be hung for any length of time.
Another thing to consider is about the design of a 50th birthday banner is whether you want it personalized with the birthday boy/girl (I use boy and girl because I don’t really like to say man/woman when it relates to birthday parties).
If you just want to show off that you are celebrating a 50th birthday… then by all means don’t pay the extra bucks for something personalized. I’ve gone both ways… but the generic birthday banner I own has been used many times which really cuts down on the overall costs.

But… when you go the extra mile and have a personalized banner made… it’s really special. It’s also a keepsake of the special event. I don’t know where you would hang this monster banner after the party is over… but still – It’s a memento – surly not a family heirloom – but a memento non-the-less.

Birthday Banners make a great gift no matter the age of the person. When you are planning a celebration for someone who is turning 50 it better be a special occasion… and we all know that turning 50 is often traumatic as well. 
You can plaster that huge banner “shouting” the fact that someone is turning 50 across the front of your home or if you have a mini-van – I’ve slapped that baby right on the back. Not because I was going to be driving with it… just because it was as high as I could reach.
Think about using a birthday banner in a space where memory photos will be taken. It’s a good idea to include a banner that proclaims it’s a 50th birthday party right in some of the pictures… you know how we all forget “stuff”. This will keep that memory alive in our fading brains. I often end up scrap-booking event’s years after they have occurred. Using the banner will give you a reminder of who’s birthday it was.
If you are having this birthday event outdoors… think about hanging a banner on the fence, patio roof or along the fence line. Coupled with several bunches of helium filled balloons – it will make quite a statement.
